Dead Snow 2 (2014) Quick Review

Our Quick Reviews bring you great movie recommendations without the spoilers.

Genre:  Comedy/Horror

Plot: If the worst day of your life consisted of accidentally killing your girlfriend with an axe, chain-sawing your own arm off, and watching in horror as your closest friends were devoured by a zombified Nazi battalion, you’d have to assume that things couldn’t get much worse. In Martin’s case, that was only the beginning.

Overview:

Dead Snow 2 is a Norwegian, gore-filled comedy-horror directed by Tommy Wirkola.  The movie is a sequel to Dead Snow (2009).

What we liked:

  • While the movie borrows from the Evil Dead, it has plenty of originality of it its own.
  • Improves on its predecessor in every way way including bigger laughs,  a deeper story, and better effects.
  • Unpredictable, fast paced storyline that sucks you from start to finish.

What we didn’t like:

  • The film’s dialogue is half Norwegian and half English, which may annoy some.

Conclusion:

We haven’t been this entertained by a comedy-horror in awhile.  But be warned, there’s no shortage of scenes of kids, pets and the elderly being killed, albeit in comedic ways.   Highly recommended for everyone but the faint of heart.

Rating: 8 out of 10

  1. I wasn’t a big fan of the first Dead Snow – I thought it was a bit stupid. After reading this review I might give it another chance and watch the second one.
(P.S. Thanks for following my blog)

  2. I actually prefer the first Dead Snow. I did enjoy this one, but not as much. I think I liked the whole concept contained in a smaller environment with the group in the beginning. The second one just went so much further it lost its appeal for me. Although I love all the blood and such. Still a lot of fun.

  3. I haven’t seen this one, but I did enjoy the first one (although enjoy might not be the right word). Definitely a cracking good zombie flick with an unusual angle.
