Princely Toys: A Rare Documentary About Creepy 19th Century Dolls

We’re throwing a lot of ideas at the wall these days to see what most resonates with people. I thought I’d share some cool, weird and obscure videos I’ve stumbled across lately.

First up a strange BBC documentary from the 70s called Princely Toys. It focuses on a bizarre collection of highly intricate, animated 19th century toys owned by a man called Jack Donovan.

How’s this horror you might ask? Well the dolls are very lifelike and creepy as hell. Also, they are depicted committing some pretty disturbing acts, such as a man butchering a woman’s body.

Enjoy:

  1. Fantastic. I’ve always thought automaton were pretty creepy. You can only imagine the work that went into these things so long ago, particularly when even in modern times many robotic creations do little more than these.
